Need for additional judicial

Proposed legislation was sent to lawmakers today as the chief justice
of the Supreme Court has requested additional judicial officers to meet
the demand of increasing litigation filed with the court, with Chief Justice
Philip Carbullido submitting the measure to Judiciary Committee chair
Senator Robert Klitzkie (R). The legislation specifically seeks authorization
for the appointment of subordinate judicial officers that will assist
in matters that come before the Superior Court, such as small claims and
traffic cases.
The legislation is in lieu of the court hiring another judge for the
bench. Chief Justice Carbullido says the island's judiciary needs the
legislation passed to "meet current demands and be prepared for future
demands which are right around the corner."
