The Judicial Efficiency Act of 2006, introduced by Senator Bob Klitzkie
(R), will go up for a public hearing this Friday. Among many provisions
in the bill are considerations for eliminating annual leave for all judges
and justices, and allow the Guam Judicial Council to increase the annual
compensation of Superior Court judges.
The measure would additionally allow the Supreme Court to come up with
guidelines and deadlines for Superior Court judges to complete their cases.
Meanwhile, Senator Klitzkie also introduced a bill that would repeal
the Supreme Court's authority to issue declaratory judgments. That bill
also goes up for public hearing on Friday.
